songs of summer

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The weather has changed!

It has gone from winter to summer over night.

We truly did miss spring this year but I'm not complaining.

I am loving the warmer weather and the flowers!

We are gifting our car to my daughter and son-in-law.

We really only need one car and the other one just sits in the driveway

so we decided to give it to them.

It is a Subaru Forester and will be a great family car for them.

I'm so happy to be able to do this for them.

I have today off!

I took it to go visit my sister who has been going through chemo treatments.

She finished up her "big" chemo and won't start

the smaller treatment till next week so she doesn't really need me.

I decided to take a day to myself because....

I've had a lot going on and I need one.

It's teacher appreciation month which means we get special presents all month.

It's really very nice of the administration staff and the families we work with.

Yesterday we had a coffee station all set up

with all kinds of flavored ice coffees and ice teas.

It was wonderful.

This morning when I woke up the sun was just coming up over the horizon.

We had left the window open to the cool night air

and my whole flat was filled with a sea breeze and the most beautiful colour.

I could't help but say a little prayer to the peacefulness of the moment.

  1. Hi there. I am visiting from Friday's Fave Five. You are the link right before me. I see you are a fairly new blogger---or at least this blog is new. Welcome to blog land! I've been in and out of blog land for twelve years now. Have had about 6 different blogs.

    I am your first follower!!

What a gorgeous picture of the sunrise and the water! Views like that really are a balm to the soul. So is wiggling my toes in the sand. Looks like you have the opportunity to do that daily. Lucky!! I currently live in a land-locked state (Idaho), but I'm from Florida, so I used to enjoy sand and sea regularly.

I hope the chemo treatments are eradicating your sister's cancer. May she be restored to radiant good health.

    Blessings,
    Patti of Psalms Cottage, Ninety-Twelve

I've never seen you ontheFFF before so welcome!! Prayer to your sister and her chemo treatment

  3. Thankfully we have had some lovely spring weeks here. It gets so suffocatingly hot in the summer, I'm glad for this respite between the cold and hot weather. What a nice thing to do to give your car to your daughter and son-in-law!It's nice to have a personal day now and then. Teacher's appreciation week sounds fun! That ocean picture is beautiful.

  5. How nice to be appreciated all month! Teachers are certainly underappreciated most of the time. Great images.

  7. I am visiting from Friday Fave Fives too. I love your ocean sunrise photo! I'm curious to find out where you live since most any beach photo I take shows ocean sunsets. :)
What a kind and generous gift that car will be for your daughter and son-in-law.
    Have a great week!

  8. This is a lovely post ... I like the seeming random-ness of it!!! As someone who lost a sister to breast cancer, I am deeply hopeful that your sister thrives after the treatments and has many more years of joy ahead!!!
