On Monday I took some of my toddler class out onto the school campus. It was raining but we had rain gear on. We noticed that the recent storm had knocked down a giant branch from one of the maple trees.
At circle time I dragged in from the deck and the children spent quite a bit of time playing with it.
It was over 6 feet tall so it took up quite a bit of space.
So much fun!

Before the children arrived for the day I noticed that the storm had also knocked over the sunflowers in one of the campus gardens. I cut some and brought them into the classroom for exploration in the sensory bin.
The next day I brought in some sunflower seeds for them to eat as well.

Both Saturday and Sunday nights were very stormy here. The wind was howling and all the big trees were blowing around outside the windows. Tucker was not at all happy with it. He jumped up onto the back of the sofa and kept close to me. I'm glad I had him there for protection. ;)

We had a two-three day nor'easter storm here over the weekend! There wasn't much damage on shore
but at least 7 boats either came loose from their moorings and were tossed onto the shore or were
swamped with water at their moorings and sunk.
I didn't get any pictures of the boats washed up but did see quite a few on the news.

This was what the ocean looked like as I drove past the beach in the town I work in later in the week.
It's so beautiful, calm, and peaceful.

You guys got walloped out there with that nor'easter. I was hiking in the ADK where it was GORGEOUS on Saturday and hubby was down here in the Albany area with pouring rain and wind. It rained for 3 full days here and we are just drying out the last couple of days. Today/tomorrow we need to mow the yard and get some brush burned. I'll be in Falmouth for a few days with 2 friends who've never been to the cape! We leave Sunday and I'm seeing the weather looks wonderful so far!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend
I'm sorry for the owners of the boats that were damaged or sunk. but glad the storm wasn't worse. Sounds like the kids had lots of neat sensory experiences!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to see the difference in the sea and shore from one day to the next. Storm and tranquil in the same week.
ReplyDeleteYou chose some great options for the children to explore. All nature is beautiful.
I'm glad Tucker was safe and sound next to you on that lovely granny square blanket.
Sounds like a big storm. Hope your weather is better this weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow, that must have been some storm! Look at Tucker teaching us a lesson on staying close to your loved ones during stormy times. We also did sunflower exploring inthe outside sensort table a couple of weeks ago
