Thankful Thursday

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I am so thankful for my sweet, smart, super-duper grandson, Verne.

I cannot believe how quickly the past two years have flown by!

Please feel free to share something you are thankful for.

Family Friday

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

My mum and I went to visit my grandson.

My daughter and son-in-law have just moved into a new place.

All of the grandchildren call my mum Reetsy

and Verne (her only great-grandchild) is no exception.

He asked her to come down and play block with him.

She is 84 and had a hip replacement last year

so she asked him if he would help her back up.

He said, "No, I won't."

He won't be 2 till the middle of October

but in the end he did offer her what help he could.

He and I played in the yard with a little yellow dump truck

a bunch of sticks and a broken shell.

Last night was curriculum night at the family care center where I work.

In past years it's been a pretty low turn out

but this year we did things a little differently and the turn out was much better.

I teach toddlers and don't always get a chance to really connect

with the parents so it was nice to be able to talk to them all

and go over what we do in class each day.

I know that they won't remember me

but my goal is to inspire a sense of wonder, caring, and curiosity in them.

Tomorrow is the Autumnal equinox.

The weather has been cooling off!

Autumn is my favorite season and I'm loving it!

Only a few more week till Verne turns 2!

I can't believe how fast he's growing.

family Friday

I have been creating a diversity tapestry with my class.

I have a big bag full of fabric that represents different colours of people.

The toddlers each take turns choosing a fabric strip

and I help them weave it into our tapestry.

When it's done we will hang it in our class room

or perhaps in a more public area in our center.

~

I am feeling much better this week and I am very thankful for all

of my friends who sent me prayers and well wishes.

~

My husband went to his post-op appointment yesterday.

The doctor said he still has C type hyperplasia and will have to be in contact

with an endocrinologist but that it doesn't seem to be a problem right now.

All in all it was a good report and Joe had his stitches removed

and was cleared to go back to work.

Sunflower season!

I am stopping by the sunflower farm near my daughter's house this weekend.

Normally, both of my daughters and I meet there at this time of year

but this year we can't make it.

So, I am just going to drop into the farm stand .

I'm hoping for a big flower head with seeds that I can bring into my class.

Go outside and play

After my daughter's wedding ceremony a few weeks ago

they had a friend with a drone fly over to get some aerial shots.

There is also a bald Eagle's nest in the trees above my son-in-law's

family camp where the wedding was held.

I am not sure which my mum was looking at in this picture.

She looks pretty good for soon to be 84 years old!

I hope I get her aging genes.

Family Friday

t

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go for to you I entrust my life.

Psalm 143:8

My daughter got married on 25 August!

It was an absolutely beautiful wedding.

~

I caught a wicked viral flu and was very sick on the day of the wedding.

I just barely made it to the ceremony

but had to leave for home before the party started.

The next day I was in the E.R. getting pumped with fluids and other meds.

Not going to dwell on how unhappy I was to have missed the wedding celebration.

~

I received an award at work!

I was pretty happy and proud of myself as I don't normally get those kinds of things.

~

My husband had to have a second thyroid surgery on 31 August.

He had half of it removed in June and they found cancer

so they had to take the other half out.

The doctor said everything looks good but I won't be happy

till we get the pathology report back.

~

I have a new co-teacher at work and I really like her.

I think we are going to do great together!

Family Friday

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

My daughter, Hannah, and I got together on Saturday.

We only had an hour before she had to get to work

but we had a nice lunch and the wonderful

company of each other.

We didn't get a picture so I pulled this one of her from a few years ago.

Monday I  had the day off work so that I could babysit for my grandson, Verne.

We had a wonderful day together!

My daughter and her husband, who are expecting a girl on Christmas Eve,

had to spend the day at Boston Children's hospital

because a cleft lip was found at the last ultrasound.

They had to have all kinds of tests done on the baby.

The wonderful news, praise God, is that she has nothing but

a very minor cleft lip.

Bonnie had to have an hour long MRI which was not fun for her.

But, she got these wonderful images of the baby (Little Fish)

My sister, Holly, came up to visit for a long weekend.

She was feeling a bit better so decided to take the drive down to my mum's house.

My brother and his fiance joined us all for a lobster dinner on Sunday night!

Holly, my mum, and I went to Mass together Sunday morning

and then out to breakfast afterward.

It was a lovely day.

My brother and his fiance told us funny stories about their adventures

on their recent vacation to Scotland....stories involved driving on the

opposite side of the road and a turbulent ride in a small plane.

I didn't get a chance to post last week but I was up at my daughter's camp

last Friday night for her bachelorette  party.

It was held at Camp Verne and just before she got there

the weather started to look pretty ugly.

But other than a bit of wind the storm passed us by!

We spent the evening painting rocks...#Bonnieanddan2018

It was fun!

The following day I went to a muster with them.

It happened to be pouring down rain...so hard.

Verne loved it though...

It was hot enough that he could get as wet as he wanted without getting chilled.

As you can see he wanted to get as wet as wet can be!

Family Friday

On Saturday morning I went to breakfast with my mum.

On the way to her house I noticed that there was a beautiful

sailboat anchored just off  Egg rock.

It was so pretty that I pulled over

along Lynn Shore Drive to get a picture.

Mum and I ate our breakfast on the dock at her club.

Breakfast is very simple but the view is stunning.

We watched the townies going off for a sail of a morning

and a few larger fishing boats head out as well.

After breakfast we walked over to Fort Sewall.

It's in old town Marblehead and the streets are very narrow.

Fort Beach Way has their mailboxes set up along the main road because

it's too difficult for the post to get down into the tiny street.

My mum and I have been coming here together since I was a baby.

I hadn't seen her in a while because we both have been very busy.

It was nice to be together.

Last night I got caught in a rainstorm on the way home from work.

But, as I was driving home from the train station the sun came out

and as soon as I got onto this rather tiny island....

a huge rainbow!

Please feel free to add a post to my Family Friday link-up.

walking home

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

My mum and I went out to breakfast on Saturday morning.

We ate on the deck at the Marblehead boat club

watching the harbor of a morning.

After we ate we walked the old Fort Sewell.

The U.S.S Constitution sailed by here during the Revolutionary war

hiding out from the English.

It was pretty peaceful while we were there...

only a few tourists and a plein air painting class...

Marblehead light, a tall ship anchored off Egg rock,

and a slip of a girl going for a swim amongst the dories.

We watched the wind blow the grass around a little

and sunlight glisten off of the water

and then we mosied on home.

20 July

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I got a chance to walk about Beacon Hill before work one morning.

The window boxes are just so beautiful.

I absolutely love Beacon Hill.

I've been searching for a bedroom rug for years

and I finally found one while shopping at Home Goods.

It was a great price...though still a little more dear than I would have preferred.

It was so worth it and has just the right amount of just the right colours.

Tucker likes it as well.

We had a crazy storm Tuesday evening.

It rained as hard as it ever could rain.

All the commuters (including my husband and I)

were drenched.

When we finally got home and dried off

the sunset and clouds were pretty spectacular.

My geraniums are blooming beautifully out on the porch

They look so pretty.

My daughter bought me this sweet little vintage stationary

for Mother's Day.

I found a pillow that matches it perfectly!

It's on the rocking chair in the kitchen

and it is so cheery!
